DevOps vs Capitalism

I saw this video on TikTok, which outlines what we were taught in the 70s. That we wouldn’t have to work all week, we would all work less and have more time. Capitalism, however, has seen the workforce reduce in size, and their saved wages line the pockets of the company’s owners.

Who buys the products when we are all out of work?

This is an Ethics issue for me, who, through DevOps, has automated much of the old mundane work. I justify this by figuring that no one was fired. We were just able to work more efficiently. When instead of people not being fired, no one was hired, the result is the same.
