How I Avoid “Phone Network” Scammers

Phone Scam

I have several mobile phone numbers, but they all have one thing in common. While they are on the same network now, each of them has been migrated using PAC from other providers.

I often get a call from a “Phone Network Operator” trying to offer me an amazing deal. Just remember: if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

Most of the time, I just hang up; if I’m not busy, I might string them along a bit.

What they haven’t realised is that the number has been moved to another provider, and so they are pretending to be the wrong network. This way, I’m never scammed.

I’m wondering whether this should be something people could plan to do. i.e., buy a PAYG sim from one network and then deliberately migrate it to another network a month later using the PAC, thus avoiding the possibility of falling into such a scam.

Just an observation and question.
